Free Workshops
Participants in ECA's free drum and Native flute workshop last Saturday received hands on instruction from teacher Carla Roberts. The group learned the basic playing technique and ancient rhythms on the goblet shaped dumbek drum. Two versions of the frame drums - Irish and Native American, where demonstrated and played. An introduction to the Native American flute covered basic fingering for the five note scale, breath control, and work on intonation for a pleasing sound.
These instruments are very enjoyable to play and easy to learn. If you would like to join in for a class on one of these ancient folkloric instruments, ECA has regular weekly classes available in a supportive and inexpensive group setting.
Future workshop possibilities:
Banjo -Native American Drum and Chant for Women
Clogging - African Drumming - Recorder - Irish Bodhran

- Pennywhistle - Group Singing
